What I'm Reading Right Now: Postcards from Cookie

The best part about the holidays? More time to read! This week I've been engrossed in a beautiful memoir by Caroline Clarke, Postcards from Cookie: A Memoir of Motherhood, Miracles, and a Whole Lot of Mail. Caroline is an amazing journalist and Managing Director of Black Enterprise's Women of Power Brand (I'll be speaking at the Women of Power Summit in March!). I met Caroline a few weeks ago at The Wing and we talked about everything from her career longevity secrets to the advice she gives her daughter (see video below). Of course we also talked about her book—a riveting tale of her discovery that she was the long lost granddaughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, her reunion with her birth mother, and the unwavering devotion of her adoptive parents. The spirit of her story is beautifully captured in a quote on the dedication page: Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it. —Tagore
