The famous tennis champion, Billie Jean King, once said, "No one changes the world who isn't obsessed." This week I got to see her obsession for sport and for women's equality in the new movie Battle of the Sexes. The movie chronicles the infamous 1973 tennis match between 29-year-old King (Emma Stone) and 55-year-old Bobby Riggs (Steve Carrell). She beats him, and in doing so disrupts gender stereotypes and paves the way for women's advancement in sports. The new lens on the famous event is an exploration of King's sexuality—a beautiful triangle between her, her devoted husband, and her hairdresser. But for me, the biggest inspiration was King's unapologetic stance for what she believed in. Anyone who believes in women's equality should support this film. It opens in theaters everywhere on September 29th. In the meantime, take a sneak peek below.
